Kathmandu: The Metropolitan city has been planning to appoint 172 new teachers for the teaching learning of local language in schools under it's scope.
The constitution of Nepal, 2072 recognizes the provision of a compulsory 100 marks subject to be taught in any particular local level. Hence, as per the constitution, Kathmandu Metropolitan City has planned to appoint new teachers for the Nepal Bhasha (Newari language).
KMC has prepared the curriculum for both the community as well as private schools. But for the first stage, only the community schools will be implementing the new curriculum.
Ram Prasad Subedi, the chief of education department in KMC, said the newly appointed 172 teachers will be managed by the source of KMC itself. The teachers will be appointed on temporary basis and their tenure will be added every year.
The new curriculum will be made compulsory from the next session. As per the need, up to three teachers will be appointed in a school.
Nepal Bhasha has been in existence in Nepal from the Lichhavi era. But in Malla era, this language got the official recognition, said the professor of Central Department of Nepal Bhasha of TU, Sharadbir Kanshakar.
In recent days, Nepal Bhasha has been in use in all three districts of Kathmandu Valley and in 12 out of 13 districts of Bagmati Province.
