Kathmandu: The reconstruction work of Seto Machchhindranath temple in Ason has begun. The reconstruction work began with the ground worship ceremony by the ambassador from India to Nepal Binayamohan Kwatra, CEO of National Reconstruction Authority Sushil Gyanwali and the mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Bidya Sundar Shakya.
Indian government, in 2017, had committed five billion 80 crore rupees for the cultural heritage reconstruction in Nepal. Seto Machchhindranath is among the 28 heritages that are being reconstructed with the very financial support from the Government of India.
Those heritages will be reconstructed within the criteria of Ancient monuments conservation act of Nepal. Special attention will be given towards the wooden crafts and the ancient layout of temple and it's originality, traditional values and local's sentiments will be well preserved.
Destroyed in the 2015's earthquake, Seto Machchhindranath temple is believed to have constructed in 10th Century, during the Malla Era in Nepal. Seto Machchhindranath carries equal value to both the Hindus and Buddhists, and they are worshipped very reveredly.
